SATURDAY CLASSES

Salvation 101 (1st Saturdays)

This class is designed to help new members understand the fundamentals of the salvation process, its meaning and purpose for our lives as Christians. New Members will look at the process of salvation (conviction, repentance, confession, conversion, regeneration, justification, sanctification and glorification) and the scriptural basis for practical application in their daily lives.

The Spiritual Disciplines (2nd Saturdays)

This class is designed to introduce the new member to the spiritual disciplines of prayer, fasting, bible study and worship. The class will further clarify the need for a personal relationship with God and how one might mature in their faith by studying these spiritual disciplines.

MBC:  Understanding Our Heritage (3rd Saturdays)

This class is designed to inform the new member about the rich heritage of the Metropolitan Baptist Church and its beliefs, practices and polity. The class will also overview the church covenant and the functions of the church body.

Building the Church from Inside Out (4th Saturdays)

The class will study the principles of Christian Stewardship and Tithing. This class is also designed to share the Pastor’s vision of the Metropolitan Baptist Church ministry and how new members can be active partakers of this vision.
 

WEEKDAY CLASSES

Family and Fellowship - 2nd Thursdays — 6:30-8:30 pm

This is a ministry session where new members are given the opportunity to learn more about one another; receive a tour of the church facilities and meet ministry leaders from the various Metropolitan Ministries. There will also be a bible study lesson on principles for Christian fellowship and growth.


Spiritutal Gifts Class - 3rd Thursdays - 6:30 - 8:30 pm

After the Lord established His church on earth and ascended to heaven, Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to equip His church with power and spiritual gifts so that His disciples could continue to carry out His ministry.  This class will teach you how to discern your spiritual gifts and how to be instrumental and a part of the growth of the Body of Christ.


Dessert with Pastor Hicks (located in K-Hall) - Wednesday before the 4th Sunday — 6:00-7:30 pm

New members will talk with Pastor Hicks and learn about his ministry experience in a Q&A session.

SUNDAY CLASSES

New Disciples Sunday Bible Study Classes

These classes will offer a more in-depth study of the core Saturday classes to ensure your understanding of God’s Word.  The four classes are still required and must be completed before you receive the Right Hand of Fellowship.

Location: Room 106 (lower level) - Chorus Choir Room


PREPARATION FOR COMPLETION

Pre-Baptism Class (Sanctuary) -
Tuesday before the 4th Sunday—6:00 pm

At Metropolitan, all new members are required to attend the pre-Baptism class. Christian baptism symbolizes, the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This class reviews the biblical foundation and mandate for water-baptism.

Pre-Baptism Class (Sanctuary) - Tuesday before the 4th Sunday — 6:00PM – 7:00PM
Baptism (Sanctuary) 7:30PM


Right Hand of Fellowship (Sanctuary) - First Sunday of every month - during worship service

After completing all the required New Disciples Orientation Classes, the new member will be given the Right Hand of Fellowship. The Right Hand of Fellowship is a church-wide greeting to the new member by the church body. During the service, Pastor Hicks, staff ministers and church officers will welcome the new members and they will receive their certificate of membership.  

Please arrive by 15 minutes before worship service and sign the roll in the New Disciples office.
